Jenn Davis is a self-taught visual artist, currently creating and thriving in the city of Birmingham, AL.  Jenn has shared her artistic gift with her community through her involvement with the Magic City Art Connect Imagination Festival, and through teaching art workshops to the children of Webster Christian Academy. In addition, her work has been displayed and sold in two local boutiques, Harper Lane and Indigo.

 

Art, in itself, is a process of both reflection and discovery. For Jenn, painting has become the bridge that connects her internal reflections with her external reality. To process and for progress, she thrives in the world of colors and strokes to convey and release her heart onto the space of a blank canvas. 

 

Within the heart of every artist lies a world of memories, experiences and dreams, and behind every piece of Jenn’s art is a story that pulls from these three things. In her own beautiful words, Jenn describes the moment in which she first felt the freedom to truly create and engage with her art: “I was finishing up a project on photorealism, when my mentor then handed me a palette knife and said to me, ‘Here, I want you to use this and see what happens.’” Though the moment was nonchalant in itself, it was a moment that brought freedom and release, and from that point on, Jenn began to approach her art from the perspective of expansion rather than one of limitation.
